Timeline for shopping for a wedding gown

We want to give brides a brief overview of the process of shopping for your wedding gown.  Enjoy the tips!

After you get engaged, start browsing through bridal magazines, Pinterest (Our link is here- http://www.pinterest.com/taylor4ubridal/) and other websites for styles in which you are interested.  Most brides start dress shopping about 9-12 months before the wedding.  Bridal gowns typically take 4-5 months to order and we like to have 2-3 months for the fitting/alterations process.  We do prefer that brides call ahead to set up an appointment to try on wedding gowns.  This will assure that we have a fitting room available and a consultant to assist you.  We try our best to accommodate walk-ins but please understand it is not always possible.  Appointments usually last 1 1/2 hours, depending on how many dresses are tried on that day.  Most designers do offer a rush service for an additional fee where we can receive the dress in about 8-10 weeks instead of 4-5 months.    We can also sell our samples off-the-rack and do alterations to perfect the fit if there is not enough time to re-order.

Once you find your dream gown with us, we take your measurements to determine a size according to the designer’s size chart.  You will need at least a 50% deposit to order the gown.  The balance is due within 30 days of the dress arriving to the store.  Alterations are an additional charge and are priced according to the type of work that needs to be done on the dress.  Expect to pay approximately $300 for alterations.

For the best experience possible, think about who to bring with you to the appointment.  Less is more.  To maximize your time, it is advisable to refrain from bringing small children which could distract you from your goal of finding the perfect dress.  We do not allow outside food and drink into our store.

We would LOVE to help you find the right dress for you!  Give us a call at (717) 691-5782 to set up your personal appointment.
